Hammock Pack is a monthly subscription box service that sends everything you need to take a mini getaway without actually going away! Hammock Pack costs $25/month plus $5 shipping. They ship USPS priority mail and it is the fastest box I get each month. Everything else takes about a week, but Hammock Pack takes two days, which I love!

I should mention that this pack arrived on time in December, and it is me who is behind on posting a review! The holidays will do that to a person sometimes!

December 2013 Hammock Pack

December’s theme was “Our Favorites” featuring favorite products from this past year’s boxes. Here is what was inside:

Ticket Kitchen Grasshopper Pie Bar and Hot Chocolate on a Stick – Both of these were delicious! I was a little skeptical of the hot chocolate on a stick because mine was 3 chili flavored, but it was actually really good!

Baggu Reusable Tote Bag – This has already come in handy! It is the perfect size for all of the things S ‘needs’ for sleeping (pillow, blanket, star projector night light, three stuffed animals) so we put it to good use when we traveled to Grandma and Grandpa’s over the holidays.

Lark Fine Foods Krinkle Cookies – These are really good. They are super crispy, but you can get around that by dunking them in a glass of milk!

Firebird Bath & Body Body Lotion – This smells really good – almost like minty baby lotion, and it is a super soft lotion as well. I really like that it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin.

Sweet Lydia’s Mint Chip S’more – This is the only thing that hasn’t been used/eaten yet. I think I will be passing it B’s way since he likes marshmallow 100xs more than I do.

I really liked this month’s box, and everything was new to me even though I have received all of the Hammock Packs since June 2013.

Did you get the December Hammock Pack? What did you think? What flavor hot chocolate did you get? What pattern is your Baggu? I heard there were some cute ones sent out!

Disclaimers:

I won this month’s box as part of a giveaway on Hammock Pack’s facebook page. I was not required to or compensated to provide this review. All opinions, as always, are my own.

November 2013 Hammock Pack

November’s theme was “Hudson Valley” and everything in the pack came from there. (If you don’t know, Hudson Valley is an area in New York state just north of NYC). Here’s what was inside:

Handmade Soap by Comfort & Joy Soap Co. – I received the Oatmeal, Milk and Honey scented soap, and I adore it! It is perfect for my sensitive skin, and not too harsh at all. It came in a cute little bag too.

Coasters by Wishbone Letterpress – These are really cute. It is a set of six, hand printed coasters, delightfully tied together with twine. They are almost too pretty to use!

Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea by Harney & Sons– I just realized that haven’t tried this yet, but it sure does smell amazing! Today would actually be the perfect day for a cup of tea (it is cold and rainy) so I will have to get on that! UPDATE: It was delicious. I think it tasted like hot apple cider, only without the apple taste, if that makes sense. In any case, it was good!

Gluten-free Brownie by Savvy Girl Baking – This was delicious! Very rich and you couldn’t even tell it was gluten-free.

Cinnamon Maple Almonds by Our Daily Eats – I am enjoying these as well. I have been keeping them on my desk and nibbling on them when I feel that I need something to munch. I never would have thought to buy flavored nuts before I got into subscription boxes, but I must say that I am enjoying them when I receive them!

Did you get the November Hammock Pack? What did you think? I am already really looking forward to the December Pack!

This month’s theme was “Apple Picking” and the pack included autumn harvest inspired products.

October 2013 Hammock Pack.

October 2013 Hammock Pack.

Apple Hand Soap by Soap Box – This soap has a nice apple scent. What is great about this company is that with your purchase, they donate one month of clean water to a child in need. Love!

Pumpkin Spice Pretzels by Fatty Sundays – These pretzels are dipped in white chocolate and then they are pumpkin spice flavored on top of that. I wasn’t sure that I would like them, but they do. The flavors all work together nicely!

Soy Candle by The Flying Farm – This candle smells so good! I never light candles anymore after having a baby, but I might have to make an exception for this candle when S is asleep.

Whipped Sugar Scrub by Bungalow Bath & Body – I have never used a sugar scrub before, but I am excited to try it out. My hands are pretty dry at the moment, so hopefully this helps.

Apple Pie Bar by Larabar – I plan to add this to my bag as a snack for while I am at the library tomorrow. It will be a nice treat.

This month’s theme was “Colorado”, and everything inside was made in, you guessed it, Colorado!

September 2013 Hammock Pack

September 2013 Hammock Pack

Soaps to Live By – Handmade thyme lemongrass soap – This was the featured item in the box, and by far the most fragrant. My whole house smells like this soap now, and I have only had it inside for about 90 minutes! Luckily I like how it smells!

Melt Bath & Skincare – Lip Butter in tea tree mint – I didn’t realize this was ‘lip butter’, but that is a completely accurate name for this product! It is a lot softer than lip balm, and I really like the minty flavor.

Boulder Granola – Gluten-free granola – There seems to be a gluten-free theme this month (Love with Food was gluten-free this month) I love granola on my yogurt, so this is a welcome product in my house! I just have to keep it away from S, as he is a granola monster eating up all of my yummy granola! Ha.

Too Haute Cowgirls – Gourmet Popcorn – This looks absolutely delicious! I can’t wait to enjoy some later for a snack!

Salus Soap – Bath Bomb and Lotion Bar – This makes me want to take a bath for sure. I can’t remember the last time I took a bath instead of a shower, so it will be nice to try to find some time to enjoy this. And the lotion bar will be nice to have as the cold weather starts to creep up on us!

I really like receiving a subscription box that is just for me! It reminds me to take a step back and relax each month by taking a few minutes for myself.

This month’s theme was “Hot Air Balloon Ride”. I wasn’t really sure what that meant, but the info card tells me that it means the box contains healthy snacks to enjoy on your ride and hair accessories to keep your hair looking nice.

Breakfast cookie

Morning Sunshine Breakfast Cookie – This cookie is huge! I mean, it is big around, sure, but it is probably an inch tall too. Maybe more! I definitely think it would fill me up at breakfast time.

IMG_4601

Hand Cream

Deep Steep Hand Cream – I received the tangerine melon scent. I have heard a lot of good things about Deep Steep, but I am not sure this is for me. My skin is sensitive so I am leery about trying new stuff out. Has anyone else with sensitive skin tried this?

IMG_4598

Hair Ties

TwistBand Hair Ties – I have always admired this style of hair tie, but I have never bothered to buy any of them, or make any of them myself. I always wondered if the little knot would snag my hair, so I was excited to try them out this morning as an experiment. I am happy to report that my hair was NOT snagged on these, and they even seem to hold my hair better than my usual elastic ties. I really like these colors too, as they go well with most of my wardrobe!

IMG_4596

Bobby Pins

Jane Tran Bobby Pins – These were the main item in this month’s Hammock Pack. They are really cute with the polka dot design.

IMG_4595

Chai Bliss Almonds

Olomomo Nuts Chai Bliss Almonds – I wasn’t sure what to think of these at first, but I did like them. They are sweet and, of course, taste like chai tea.

What I missed from this month’s box was something to do. June had a book to read, July had the drink mix to invite your friends over to drink with you, but this box doesn’t have anything like that. I still enjoyed it though!

This was the last pack in the three month subscription that my parents gave me for my birthday. I definitely like the idea behind Hammock Pack, and I plan to look into extending my subscription.

July 2013 Hammock Pack

July 2013 Hammock Pack

This month I received my second Hammock Pack, part of a birthday gift from my parents!

Hammock Pack is a monthly subscription box service that sends everything you need to take a mini getaway without actually going away! Hammock Pack costs $25/month plus $5 shipping. They ship USPS priority mail and it arrived very quickly!

This month’s theme was “Girls Night Out”.

First look

First look

I love their info cards!

Anyway, let’s dive in.

Wine-A-Rita

Wine-A-Rita

CosmoRita – This is a mix to use with white wine, but it also has recipes for mixing with vodka or ginger ale if that’s more your style. I am not sure what I will end up mixing it with, but I am excited to try it out. I just have to gather up some girls to help me drink this up!

All Nighter Mask

All Nighter Mask

All Nighter Mask – At first I thought this was just stuff you smeared on your face, let it dry and then rinsed it off, but it is actually a full on mask, with eye holes, you put on your face. I have never used anything like this before, so it will be neat to test it out. I will be sure to wait until S goes to bed though, to avoid scaring him! Ha ha.

Pirouette Cinnamon Pecan Barre

Pirouette Cinnamon Pecan Barre

Barre Energy Bar – In the interest of science, I thought I would taste test this. And then I ate the whole thing. It was good. From the taste you could tell it was an energy bar, but it still tasted good. I’d buy it again.

Tea Tree and Mint Shaving Cream

Tea Tree and Mint Shaving Cream

Giovanni Cosmetics Shaving Cream – This smells really good. I almost wish it was a lotion instead of a shave cream so you could enjoy the smell longer. In any case, this will get used up and I will feel luxurious about it!

Pink Dragonfruit Mints

Pink Dragonfruit Mints

Sencha Naturals Mints – These are neat because three mints have the same amount of antioxidants as one cup of green tea. They taste good and I would buy these again as well.

The box also included a $50 gift card to Naked Wines.

All in all I liked this month’s box! I am anxious to see what they have in store for us next month too! I love the idea behind Hammock Pack and how it reminds me of the importance of taking a little bit of time for myself each month.

I asked my parents for a subscription to Hammock Pack for my birthday, and I could not be happier about it! They gifted me a three month subscription and I am already excited about the July box! Thanks Mom and Dad!

They ship USPS priority mail and it arrived very quickly! I was thrilled! This month’s theme was “Lake House Getaway”.

Everything came neatly packaged, and there was an information card!

First Look

First Look

The contents were protected with brown crinkled paper. S has loved playing with this for the past few days. He comes into the office, sees the Hammock Pack box and asks me to open it so he can play with the paper. He makes a huge mess, but it is easy to clean up for the next time!

Second Look

Let’s get started!

The main item in the box is a paperback book, Where’d You Go, Bernadette, by Maria Semple.

IMG_3663

A good book!

I was not so sure about someone else picking a book for me, but I must say that I have hardly been able to put it down! I am halfway through it and it is really quite good so far! What I like is that it is written such that you are piecing together Bernadette’s personality and back story through a series of emails, letters, articles and encounters, so it is very easy to pick up and put down at anytime. No 20+ page chapters here! I don’t want to say much more about it, since I haven’t finished it yet and I don’t want to inadvertently give anything away, but it is good so far and I am anxious to find out what happens!

Next up is a package of Blum Naturals organic face wipes (10 wipes).

IMG_3662

Blum Naturals Organic Face Wipes

I love that these are all individually wrapped. They are perfect for traveling with, and according to the information card they are great for wiping away makeup and sunscreen. I am planning to save these for our next (several) trips.

What’s a trip to the Lake House without a snack?

IMG_3656

The Good Bean roasted chickpeas

The Good Bean roasted chickpeas are delicious! I wasn’t sure what they would taste like, so I naturally had to open them immediately to find out! There are crunchy, but not hard, and nice and salty. The texture is kind of like a wasabi pea only without the wasabi.

IMG_3774

Coconut water

Big Tree Farms Coconut Water. This is evaporated coconut water, which I had never heard of before! You are supposed to add this whole packet to 12 oz of water to help you stay hydrated. I am wondering if there are other things to do with it, like add it to a smoothie. I think I would like it best that way, but either way I will give it a go!

IMG_3657

All Good Lips

Lastly, we have Elemental Herbs All Good Lips. It has SPF 18 to protect your lips, and it also gives your lips a slight color. Mine is ‘Maroon Creek’, and it is perfect because it is only a few shades from my natural lip color. It has a bit of a minty taste to it too, which I love!
