Time for a Thursday Thoughts link up with Ramblings of a Suburban Mom!

-So, it is Friday, I know, but I was very busy yesterday with S. He woke up with a 102.5 fever so we called the doctor as he had had a (lower) fever the day before and it clearly wasn’t going away. They told me to bring him in right when the opened. Shortly after I hung up, S got sick all over me. Yup, calling the doctor was clearly the right decision. Anyway, long story short, he has a double ear infection. It is his first (and hopefully) last one. Yesterday was spent at the doctor, at the pharmacy, and then just making sure my kiddo was comfortable. Today he seems much better, though still clearly not 100%.

-On a more positive note, S got into the story time program at the library! I was a little late signing him up so we were on the waiting list. I was so excited to get the phone call that we were in! It’s once a week thru mid-May, and I couldn’t be happier about it. This week was our first class and S had a great time! They have it down to a science there from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. Each week the kids get a stamp on their hand, listen to stories, play with the felt board, play a game, do an art project, get a sticker and sing hello/goodbye. Love it!

-I was pretty bummed about who was kicked off of King of the Nerds night. Actually, no. I was more bummed about who was NOT kicked off of King of the Nerds last night.

-S stayed home from daycare yesterday and I just know the new book order form is sitting in his locker waiting for us! The anticipation is driving me nuts!

-Is it just me or did January just seem to drag on and on? That blizzard that left me snowed in home alone with a toddler seems like ages ago! And it was only three weeks ago. Madness.

-I hope everyone has a great weekend!

-I had big dreams of catching up on my box reviews this week, but the blizzard kind of put a damper on that! We got around 18″ of snow and we were literally snowed in! S’s daycare was closed on Tuesday and there were several travel bans. Yesterday I went out to use the snow blower for the very first time in my life and I was able to clear out enough snow to get my car in and out. I was really struggling with the end of the driveway, shoveling it down to a height the snow blower could handle, when a nice man with a snow plow on his truck just plowed the snow at the end of my driveway for me. Without me even asking! It was amazing. I must remember to pay it forward to someone else in need within the next few weeks.

-I need to work on my snow blower technique. I blew snow really far into our yard and our neighbor’s yard, and did an all-around sloppy job of it! Still, it was one heck of a test for my first time using the thing.

-I am sad that I missed out on the last bit of Target Christmas clearance due to this blizzard. I am sure everything has been sent to salvage by now. Oh well…I probably didn’t need the stuff anyway 😉

-One of my friends recommended that I watch Sherlock, so I took a chance and watched it on Monday. It was awesome! I can’t wait to watch another episode when I get some free time…maybe this weekend.

Happy Thursday!

-I forgot to write a Weekend Recap post on Monday! Oops! Probably because I worked Monday instead of Tuesday, and then Tuesday was Christmas Eve! I’ll do a Christmas post in a bit and include everything!
-I cannot believe that Christmas has come and gone already! It doesn’t seem possible! Christmas on a Wednesday is no fun, as you have to get back to everything on Thursday. B and I had to work today, which meant S had to go to daycare. Sad times.
-Speaking of daycare, drop off was hard today. Not too many kids were there, and the regular teachers were at an all day training session. No one seemed happy to be there, from the kids to the substitute teachers/aides. S didn’t want to let me go! It is hard when you change a kid’s routine, and not having the same adults as usual was hard on him I think. But training is important, and I’m glad our center takes the time to train their staff well!
-I hope this snow sticks around til the weekend so we can get out and snowshoe, or at least play in the backyard again! We have about 3 inches, but it is supposed to warm up again. 😦
-I am excited about Target’s Christmas clearance! I hope we can get some good deals. I would love new stockings for next year, and we need a new tree. I should probably shop sooner rather than later!
Happy Thursday!

-I cannot believe that is is Thursday already! This week is just flying by.

-I thought I had bought a bunch of Christmas wrapping paper on clearance last year, but that seems to not be the case. Or else it is hiding somewhere in my house. Sometimes I wish I could do a Google Search that would locate things within my home, you know?

-Yesterday I found the printer ink that I had been searching for for at least a month. I had to confirm in my past Target purchases online that I did indeed buy the ink, and that it is indeed somewhere in my home. And then I found it at last, sitting pretty much out in the open. Sigh.

-I need to buy some fun wrapping paper for S’s birthday gifts. I know he would like Curious George, Thomas or Elmo paper, but I also don’t want to break the bank on wrapping paper. I wish there was a dollar store closer to me! Or rather, a dollar store that was nearer to the places I regularly go. There’s one about 15 minutes away, but we never go that way!

-I thought last night’s Survivor was pretty boring. The producers must have thought so too, since they did two Tribal Councils in one episode. Must not have been a lot of plot to build on there!

-S keeps asking for Row, Row, Row Your Boat and Baa Baa Black Sheep to be sung to him. I think I need to teach that boy some new songs. I don’t remember many kid songs though…I tried Old MacDonald, and he asks for that one by saying random vowels at me. Ha! ” EOEIEO”

-Tomorrow is the deadline to order from the book order! I NEED to remember to make some selections and order them today.

That’s it from here. I hope everyone has a great day!

-I finally remembered to change the Thursday Thoughts button! Yahoo!

-I still haven’t written a review of our October Citrus Lane box, and I have had it for over a week. Oops. Maybe tomorrow?

-I was a bit disappointed in the tribe shake up on Survivor last night. I think it could have been a lot more interesting if more people were able to play with their loved ones. Though maybe there aren’t too many people left that have their loved ones in the game? Let’s see: Aras and Vytas, Tina and Katie, and Kat and Hayden. Did I miss some? Probably.

-I finally remembered to dig out my gloves! My walk from my car to the library will be so much more pleasant today thanks to having gloves on!

-My friends and I have been doing Secret Santa exchanges since we were twelve. That is a lot of years! I am starting to think about this year’s exchange and whether or not we should change it up with a theme or a different price range and whatnot. I came up with a bunch of theme ideas, and so far everyone seems to think a theme would be fun, but they have no preference on what it should be. I cannot decide (we are all pretty indecisive) so does anyone have any fun exchange theme ideas? These are what I had come up with:
  • Something to read
  • Something to eat
  • Something to watch
  • Something for the kitchen
  • Something green
  • Something that is a Christmas decoration, etc.

-That reminds me of the birthday/Christmas gift thing I had seen last year before S’s birthday. I think it was a Victorian idea or something like that on how to not spoil your kid with gifts. You give them something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. If only I could stick to that…maybe when he’s older.

-S came home with his first art project from daycare! It is a butterfly and I think they decorated it with shaving cream and paint. I’m not sure about that, but it is really cute 🙂 They had them hanging on the wall in the hallway, and now they have been replaced with apples that seem to be decorated in the same way.

Thursday Thoughts

-First things first: they found S’s blanket at daycare! It was in his locker when we got there this morning, and his teacher was apologizing over and over to me. I really don’t care as long as we get our stuff back, so that is that! I took S’s clean blanket back in for him today just in case, and the other one will be washed. Because, who knows where that has been? Heh.

-I got a new book order form today when I dropped S off too! SO excited! I see a few things to order, but probably not as much as last month. I’m a librarian, yes, but I don’t need 10,000 books in my home.

-I did not watch Survivor last night. Instead I watched How I Met Your Mother with B, and fell asleep before it was over. (B was away on business this week, so he hadn’t seen HIMYM either. Thanks, DVR!)

-I have a lot of books I want to read, but every time I get extended downtime, I watch Once Upon A Time on Netflix. This is a problem. But they always end on a cliffhanger, and Netflix has the next episode right there…The other night I watched them until 1AM. What is wrong with me? I needed that sleep. Oops.

-S is learning so fast. We have this conversation at least five times a day now. “S, what does a cow say?” “Cow!” “No, don’t say cow, tell me what does a cow say?” “Moooooo!” I taught him that a cow says “Moo!” and it is so neat to see him retain it and repeat it. He also knows what a sheep says, what a dog says, and sometimes he admits to knowing what a horse says. Yesterday I was going to give him cereal for breakfast and he said that he wanted waffles, and then he saw sausages and wanted those too. He has never placed a breakfast order before. He is growing up so quickly!
22 months old. He picked out his own shirt, too.

-S has also started saying ‘Mommy’ (as opposed to ‘Mama’, and it is the cutest thing ever. I need to start coaching him now so he can say everyone’s names at Thanksgiving when we see B’s family. He almost had his aunt’s name, and it really sounds like he says Grandpa now too. I can’t wait for my dad to hear that one 🙂

-Enough about S. I am thinking about getting back into painting. I used to take lessons, but that stopped when we got married and moved away. Now we are back, but I don’t want to take lessons, I just want to paint on my own. I have been saying this for a while, but I need a simple piece to work on that I can finish quickly and feel accomplished. I think that would get me going again. Maybe. Hopefully.

-Today is my mom’s birthday! Happy birthday, Mom!!

-I should probably get started on my day here. I hope everyone has a great day!
