Oh my goodness, is it Monday already? S and I are both sick, so I am a bit out of it!

Saturday we were excited because B was home! He had a last minute business trip that lasted two days longer than expected Tuesday-Friday and didn’t get home til after midnight Friday night/Saturday morning. S and I sure missed him, and S was so excited when B came in in the morning to get him out of his crib!

We had big plans on Saturday to go snowshoeing and then go to the Festival of Lights, but it was so bitter cold outside that we decided to skip the snowshoeing, and then the roads were horrible at night, so we had to push back the Festival of Lights trip! Sad times, but it was probably just as well since S and I were starting to come down with colds.

Sunday we took a trip to the grocery store and then B went out skiing while S napped. Unfortunately, S didn’t nap for very long and he woke up with a fever, so he and I spent a few hours cuddling on the couch, hoping he’d feel better soon!

This morning S is feeling a lot better, but he’s still stuck with a runny nose. I’m feeling like I am one step behind myself, if you know what I mean. I’m off to rest while S naps. Take care everyone!

Good morning, birthday boy!

Good morning, birthday boy!

I cannot believe that my little guy is already two years old! We had his party on Saturday, and we gave him is presents from us on Sunday so that he and B would have time to play with them together. S’s actual birthday was Monday, and I wanted to make sure he had a fun day! I don’t work Mondays, so I was able to take him to a local indoor play area. They have tons of toys and things to climb on, push around, jump on, etc. S had a blast! There were a bunch of other kids there, so he had fun playing with new friends. We stayed for just over an hour, and it was perfect because we both had had enough at the same time. He wasn’t even upset when I said it was time to go.

Next I promised him Wendy’s for lunch, and we picked that up on our way home to enjoy before naptime.

After his nap, we filled the bathroom sink with bubbles for a little fun with his new bath toys from B’s sister. S loved playing in the bubbles, and he thought it was great when I showed him how to blow bubbles off of his hands.

After dinner we gave S his Cheryl’s cookie that had come in the mail. You can order a cookie for $5 to be delivered on the day of your choice. I selected Monday, his actual birthday, but it came early on Saturday so I just saved it for him. Better early than late, and what kid doesn’t love getting mail?

Next it was time for the ‘official’ monthly photo shoot, and S was a real champ through it all. I wanted a few in a different spot than usual, and he obliged.

After his bath, the UPS guy rang our doorbell to deliver the Plasma Car that I ordered last week with our Pampers Gifts to Grow points. S is still a bit young for it, but we opened it up and set it up for him for a last little bit of birthday fun before bedtime. He loved it! He calls it a boat, and it was the first thing he asked for the next morning when he woke up (Oops!).

All in all, it was a great day. I still cannot believe my little kiddo is already two!!

Wow, what a weekend we had! It included two parties, two trips to the grocery store, a cancelled visit to see Santa and a trip thru the car wash!

Saturday morning we ran to the grocery store because we changed our minds at the last minute about what we’d serve at S’s birthday party later that day and we needed a few things to accommodate this change. S loves the grocery store though, so he was happy. He even got a compliment on his winter hat, so he was all smiles.

After that we headed to my grandmother’s nursing home to go to the holiday party they were having. You could sign up to have your picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus with your loved one, so that is what we did. My mom, dad, brother, grandmother, B, S and I all crammed into the picture with Mr and Mrs Claus. Hopefully it turned out! We’ll get to see it in a few days.

Then we came home to eat lunch and put S down for his nap. We used that time to finish getting the house ready and to make food for the party. S woke up just before B’s parents, sister and future brother-in-law got here, and he was ready to party! My parents, brother and aunt came as well and we had fun visiting, playing with S, and playing a game of Place the Nose on Elmo. S loved having everyone here, and he did a great job blowing out his candle.

Sunday we did our usual grocery shopping and we planned to go see Santa afterward, but when we got there, the line was out the door and the parking lot was full! We were not prepared to stand outside for that long 9it was cold!) so we decided to try again next week. My back up plan was to take the car through the car wash. It sounds horribly boring, but S has never been through the car wash, and he LOVED it! The look on his face as the water sprayed on the car and the giant tentacle things scrubbed the car was amazing! He asked to go through again when it was all done, ha ha!

We gave S his presents from us after his nap. B had brought back some toys from IKEA when he went on a trip back in September (I think) and we saved them for his birthday. They were a huge hit! So far though I think his favorite present is that we haven’t put back the baby gates that blocked the kitchen off (we took them down for his party). I must say that I am also enjoying having the gates down, and not having to do the hurdles every time I want to go into the kitchen! Hopefully S can handle having them down for good!!

Due to Thanksgiving, today was the first day that S has gone to daycare since last Tuesday. He was so excited to go that he was saying “Daycare! Daycare!” as I drove up to the building.

When we walked into his classroom, he hugged me goodbye and then went to go hug his teacher. Then all of the kids started hugging S! It was so cute!

He finally likes it!

Wow! What a weekend, especially when you consider that our weekend really started on Wednesday afternoon when we loaded up in the car and headed to B’s parents’ house for Thanksgiving! That’s a four and a half day weekend right there!

We left Wednesday afternoon in hopes that S would nap in the car on the way to his grandparents’ house. S had other ideas and remained awake for the entire trip! So we arrived just before dinner time with a wound up toddler and way too much luggage for a three night visit. I try not to bring unnecessary things, but I always seem to over-pack. Oh well…at least it all fit into the car with room to spare! S enjoyed visiting with his grandparents, great aunt and uncle, and his aunt and future uncle (B’s sister is engaged).

Thursday morning I went to my very first Zumba class with B’s mom and sister. I had a great time, and it wasn’t like I expected at all! I thought they would call out the names of steps to do, but they didn’t. The instructor was very easy to follow, and she encouraged you to just have fun with it and keep moving even if you couldn’t do the exact thing she was doing. It was great to get moving and then not feel too guilty about having a slice of pie later in the day!

We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with B’s family around 1PM. In the evening we watched A Muppet Christmas Carol and S really enjoyed it! It was the first time he had ever sat through a movie and I was impressed with how it held his attention.

Friday we did a little shopping in the late morning and the crowds weren’t that bad at all, though we were at a strip mall, not an actual mall, so that probably made a difference. Target was the most crowded, but we didn’t really get much so I was able to go through the express lane without waiting in line! B and his dad took S to go take train photos after we went to Target, and I kept shopping with B’s mom. I got a few more Christmas presents and the supplies for S to make some presents as well.

In the evening we went to see a Christmas light display with B’s sister. S really liked seeing all of the lights, and he put up with all three of us saying “S, can you say ___” as we drove through and pointed out the different lights to him. “S, can you say Christmas Tree?” “S, can you say Santa?” “S, can you say football?”, etc.

Saturday we headed back home, unpacked, grocery shopped and recovered from our trip! We were all pretty tired!

On Sunday we went out snowshoeing for the first time this season! S had fun riding around his sled that B was pulling behind him. It was great to get outside and get some fresh air! Later, I met up with a friend for coffee and shopping while B stayed home with S during his nap. When I got home, B and S were making a snowman in our backyard!

And now it is back to our usual M-F routine, with prep for S’s birthday party thrown in!

Happy Cyber Monday!

It was super cold and windy here this weekend, so it was a nice weekend to do some indoor activities. On Saturday we did all of our grocery shopping, and B got a haircut. My parents watched S for us afterward and B and I were able to go buy a few Christmas presents and enjoy a dinner date night. We hadn’t had a date night since February, so it was really nice to have the chance to get out without S.

Sunday we hadn’t planned on doing much, but I ended up running to two Targets to try to get a Christmas gift for B that we had seen in the ad. Luckily the second store had it in stock. Now I just need to wrap it! During S’s naptime we made a batch of homemade playdoh. S has never played with playdoh before, so it was a fun treat for him when he woke up! He really liked cutting it and rolling it between his fingers.

Our weekend started on Friday night when we went to my parents’ house to visit. My cousin was in from out of town, so she and my aunt were there too. We had fun catching up before, during and after dinner. My cousin hadn’t seen S since he was about two weeks old, so it was great that she was able to see him again. He sure is a lot different now than he was at two weeks old though!

Saturday S had a lot of energy to use up so we spent some time outside raking leaves for him to jump in. He had a blast and got good and messy! We also enjoyed grocery shopping during free sample time at Wegmans. They were introducing all of their holiday stuff so there were tons of things to try. While it is super crowded during these events, S loves sampling the food so we always make a point to go shopping then.

Sunday was a pretty cruddy day outside, so we had fun inside. I finished making S his felt toddler Christmas tree, so we hung it up to play with even though it isn’t Thanksgiving yet! He really likes putting the ornaments on the tree, but he gets mad when you take them off.

This morning we enjoyed walking around the mall with my mom and my aunt, and then we had a delicious lunch at Ruby Tuesday. I was thinking of running to Target with S when he wakes up from his nap, but it is still so windy outside, so I think we’ll just stay in!
