I am very excited to try everything in this box. We are going to take the popcorn with us when we go look at Christmas lights because I always say “We should really have popcorn for this” every time we go. These will be perfect. B and I will probably enjoy the drinking chocolate with the marshmallow toppers together, and we have talked about making the spinach dip for Christmas Eve.

November 2013 Love with Food Deluxe Box

November 2013 Love with Food Deluxe Box

The November theme is ‘Flavors of Fall’ and I was pretty excited about it. I love fall and fall flavors!

Tuxedo Popcorn from Kukuruza

This is delicious! It has a great blend of caramel and chocolate.

Green & Black’s Organic Dark 70% Chocolate

B and I really like dark chocolate, and these are really good, and really dark. We received two pouches with two pieces of chocolate in each one.

Maple Fudge from Laura Secord

We received three of these. I’m probably going to put them in B’s Christmas stocking if he doesn’t find them first.

Almond, Apricot and Yoghurt Bar from Eat Natural

I took this along to work with me last week and it made for a good snack. It wasnt something I’d usually buy, so it was a nice change of pace.

Sweet Corn Crunch from Sensible Foods

I haven’t tried these yet. I am hoping they aren’t too hard, as it seems like it is just unpopped corn kernels. We received two bags of these. Update: These are not at all hard! They could almost melt in your mouth. We all enjoyed these with lunch over the weekend.

Sweet Potato Popchips from Popchips

We received two bags of these and we haven’t tried them yet. We’ll probably bring them along on our next roadtrip for a snack in the car. Update: We did bring these along in the car, and they were great. All three of us enjoyed them and they were easy to pass into the backseat for S.

Black Rice Cracker Chips from Grains of Wellness

Haven’t tried these yet, but I they sound like something I’d like.

Seasoned Pistachios from The Gilded Nut

We received some flavored pistachios in a graze box a few weeks ago and we liked them. These are great too.

Rosemary Sea Salt Shortbread from Dancing Deer Baking Co

These sound amazing. I can’t believe we haven’t tried them yet!

Ginger Twist Tea from Mighty Leaf

We received two of these, and they have B’s name all over them.

Authentic Indian Spice Blend from Arora Creations

You are supposed to put these on veggies, and we just haven’t bought the right veggies to try it on yet. Soon though, soon.

Box Contents

Wow, writing this all out, I am surprised that we haven’t tried more of these items yet. We received the box over a week ago. I guess we have just been busy, but I did want to get this up so you could see the contents of the Deluxe box this month. I was happy with everything and excited that I hadn’t heard of most of these brands. It is always fun to have the chance to try new things, and I love that about Love with Food!

October 2013 Love with Food – Deluxe Box

The October theme is ‘Scary Delicious’, and they suggest you enjoy your treats while you wait for trick-or-treaters. Ours will probably be gone before the trick-or-treaters come!

Chocolate Pizzelle Crisps from Silk City Snacks

We received two of these in the deluxe box. Each bag is 100 calories, and the cookies aren’t bad. I was hoping they’d be more like Rip van Wafels, but they are not.

Glee Gum from Verve Inc

We received five of these. I wish they had been mint flavored, as I don’t really care for fruity gum. B might though, so these are all his if he wants them!

New World Caveman Cookies from Caveman Bakery

We received four of these. I plan to toss them in my bag for an on the go snack.

Organic Hard Candies from Torie & Howard

We received five of these. They’ll be nice to have in my purse for those times when you just need a piece of hard candy.

Pixo Pearls from Vinaigeric Gingras

Not really sure what to do with these. It gives a few suggestions, but none sound all that great to me. Maybe B will like this.

Happy Squeeze from Happy Family

This has S’s name all over it!

Toasted Coconut Chips from Dang

Haven’t tried these yet, but I hope they are good.

Organic Bars from Happy Family

We received two of these. Our card says we received Apple & Kale and Honey Grain Sunbutter, but we actually received Apple & Kale and Chocolate Sunbutter. No matter, S will eat them!

Baked Cheddar Fries from Snikiddy

I am pretty sure I have had these before, but that the packaging looked different. I remember them being tasty.

My Super Snacks from My Superfoods

These are part cookie, part granola bar. I look forward to sharing them with S.

Overall I am pleased with this month’s box. I still wish that the Deluxe box had 16-20 different items in it, rather than duplicates. I maintain that if I wanted double the contents of the regular box that I would just buy two boxes! This is only the second Deluxe box though, so I have hope that things may change as they work out the kinks and receive feedback about what people were expecting.

September 2013 Love with Food box

This month was also the first month of Love with Food’s new deluxe box. B and I decided that we wanted to check that out too. The Deluxe box is touted to have 16-20 snacks (with some full-size items). It’s only $19.95/month and it ships free. There was a wait list to get the September Deluxe Box, and I think the same is true for October? We had one month left of our regular box subscription, and instead of contacting Love with Food to just upgrade to Deluxe, we thought it would be fun to compare.

Both boxes this month were curated by Chef Ming Tsai, and all of the items are gluten free.

Love with Food September Regular Box

Love with Food September Deluxe Box

Love with Food September Deluxe Box contents

Now, in my mind, the Deluxe box would have all of the same items as the regular box, and then more, different items to get up to 16-20 items. That was not the case. Most of the items are the same in both boxes, and I was disappointed that the Deluxe box had duplicates of items to get up to the promised numbers. The Deluxe box was also supposed to donate two meals to a hungry child, but the information card says only one was donated. Bummer!!

Anyhow, these items were in both boxes:

Blueberry Fruit Bar from Betty Lou’s

Roasted Garlic Hummus from Wild Garden

100% Natural Crunchy Cinnamon Apple Chips from Bare Fruit

Cherry Berry Raw Cookie from Licious Organics

Sipping Broth from Millies Savory Teas

Cinnamon Crunch from Cosmos Creations

Fruit Snacks from YumEarth Organics

These items were only in the regular box:

Cheddar Cheese Organicasaurus from Good Boy Organics

Roasted Red Pepper and Artichoke Bruschetta from Milas Foods

These items were only in the Deluxe Box:

Rice and Bean Chips from Beanfields Snacks

Sesame Crunch Chick Pz from Nutty Bean Co.

We haven’t eaten much of our snacks yet, just one of the Apple Chips (and they were good!) but I did want to get this comparison post up ASAP! I hope it helps people make a decision between the two boxes.

August 2013 Love With Food box

August 2013 Love With Food box

This month’s theme is Backyard BBQ. All of the snacks are “to help you chill while you grill” and it is right up our alley!

Contents

Contents

Snapea Crisps from Harvest Snaps – I loved these! B, not so much, and S will eat just about anything, so that doesn’t tell you much. They were light and crispy, kind of like a cheese puff, only made from peas. Again, I liked them, but I can see how it might not be to everyone’s liking. More for me!

Original Creamy Praline from Aunt Sally’s – This was very creamy and melts in your mouth. I liked it as a treat for sure!

All Natural Spice Rub from The Dizzy Pig BBQ Co. – B was very excited about this, and now he wants to try a bunch of other rubs, or even experiment with making his own. I guess he was really talking it up at work too. It’s nice to see him excited about a subscription box, ha ha! This was enough for two chicken breasts, and they were delicious. The rub had a slight kick to it, but it wasn’t too much for me (I like everything mild-to-medium, B likes things medium-to-hot and he still thought it had a kick) B asked me to take a picture of the cooked chicken to put on the blog, (he was proud of it) so here it is:

Chicken

Chicken

Crunchers from Sahale Snacks – This was a kind of trail mix snack with almonds, sesame seeds, and cranberries. It was a nice change from my usual snacks.

All Natural Salsa from El Pinto -We haven’t tried this yet, but I like how it is in a little container like a travel applesauce or pudding. It would be great to take on a picnic.

Sea Salt Potato Crisps from Good Boy Organics – I was not a fan of these. They are actually made from potato flakes and they taste like it. B finished these, and I got the Snapeas and we were both happy.

Sugar-Free Fresh Mints from Project7 -I did not expect these to have as strong of a mint flavor as they do. I was pleasantly surprised. And they aren’t very hard, so you can chew them pretty easily, which again was a shock to me do to the size of each mint. I’d buy more of these.

Amsterdam Waffle Cookie from Rip van Wafels – We are saving this for the weekend when we are both drinking coffee at the same time. It is recommended that you warm this cookie over a mug of a hot beverage before you eat it, so that is what we want to do!

I really liked this month’s box, and B was excited about it as well. We’ll eat everything, so that is a huge plus. In fact, most of it is already gone, ha ha!

I extended my Love with Food for another three months! Love with Food is a monthly subscription box that sends gourmet food samples to your doorstep. What I love about this company is that they donate a meal to a hungry child for each box you buy. This month, like last month, they actually donated two meals per box to kids in Oklahoma. Love with food costs $10/month plus $2 shipping, so it is a pretty good deal!

IMG_3847

The box

This month’s theme is Fun on the Boardwalk. All of the snacks are “seaside snacks to help you beat the heat” and remind you of the sights, smells and sounds of summer.

IMG_3849

First look

Yum! I forgot to take a photo of all of the contents nicely displayed together, and now we have eaten some of them! I did, however, take closeups of everything.

IMG_3861

Strawberry Fig Bar from Nature’s Bakery

I am really excited to try these. There are two in the package and I know we will be sharing these as a family. We haven’t eaten them yet, but I am sure we will like them.

IMG_3860

Rebel Mary Peanuts from Lord Nut Levington

Wow! These have a very intense flavor. I feel like I would like them more if I liked tomatoes or bloody marys. They aren’t bad, but I know they won’t be the first salty snack I reach for. B will probably eat them up though.

IMG_3859

Handmade Sourdough Pretzels from Uncle Henry’s

I ate these up the other day. They reminded me of the Mennonite pretzels we used to buy, so I loved them. Very salty and not too hard that they hurt your teeth to bite into.

IMG_3853

Necco Wafers and All Natural Orange Salt Water Taffy from Angel Mint

Yummy! I love salt water taffy and these are no exception.

IMG_3852

BBQ Beef Stick from Vermont Smoke and Cure

I immediately handed this to B and he shared it with S. They both enjoyed it, and B said it tasted like fancy pepperoni.

IMG_3851

Snack Topping from Twangerz

You are supposed to use these on fruit, vegetables, chips, popcorn, etc. I haven’t tried them out yet, but I am sure we will. Not expecting anything life changing, but it is nice to switch things up sometimes and these will do just that!

IMG_3856

Hawaiian Salted Caramel Popcorn from Kukuruza

This popcorn is so delicious! It has a great combination of salty and sweet. I’m pretty sure that I need more!

IMG_3862

Lord Nut Levington coupon and $25 Hello Fresh gift card

Non food items. We haven’t decided if we will use the Hello Fresh gift card yet (Their cheapest box is nearly $70) but if we do you can be sure I’ll blog about it!

All in all, I was really pleased with this month’s box! Everything will get eaten, so that’s a winner in my book!

This month I decided to give Love with Food a try. Love with Food is a monthly subscription box that sends gourmet food samples to your doorstep! What is unique about Love with Food is that for each box you buy, the donate a meal to a hungry child. Love with food costs $10/month plus $2 shipping, so it is a pretty good deal!

IMG_3585

The box.

First off, the box is a lot smaller than I expected! It fit in my mailbox with two other packages in there, and I DO NOT have a large mailbox, people! Crazy!

IMG_3587

First look. It is jam-packed!

It may be a small box, but it is a FULL box. Everything is in there so neatly and compactly, it is as if B did it. He can get a lot of stuff into our car and our fridge. I don’t know how it does it, and I just stay out of the way and let the man work!

IMG_3588

All of the contents

This month’s theme is Summer Beach Bash. The info card says “You’ve waited all year for fun in the summer sun, so pack the picnic basket, ’cause it’s time for a beach bash! This month you helped donate not one, but TWO meals to foodbanks in Oklahoma.” Aw, that’s nice. I am glad they helped the people in Oklahoma!

IMG_3591

Products close up

On to the good stuff! Here’s what we received:

Roasted Seaweed from Seaweed Love – I am anxious to try these. I think I will either love them, or hate them. But B is sure to love them, so it’s a win!

Coconut + Mango Fruit Ice from Smooze – I really want to be the one who gets to eat this, but I think the three of us will be fighting over it. We all love mangoes and popsicles and this sounds yummy!

Gluten-Free Pineapple Coconut Cereal Bar from Do More Bars – This has B’s name all over it. He loves pineapple and cereal bars, so he will be thrilled to see this!

Organic Fruity Bears from Surf Sweets – I am hoping to get to try at least one of these before B claims the bag for himself! The man loves gummy bears!

Sweet Plantain Chips from Turbana – Okay, these are all mine! I love banana chips and these are similar to banana chips according to the information card, so I am excited.

All-Natural Fruit and Soy Bay from Soy Joy – Another pineapple flavored item. This is all B’s, or maybe S’s.

Pomegranate Mint Chewing Gum from PUR Gum – I don’t usually like fruity gum, but this is fruit AND mint, so it should be interesting

Organic Hard Candy from GoOrganic – What a neat idea. B and I will enjoy these.

Organic Drink Mix from Flavrz – I don’t really understand adding flavors to water. Water tastes good as water! I’ll probably try this some afternoon when I am wishing we had some pop in the house.

$50 gift card to Naked Wines – I am sure we will use this! I just wish they sold NY wines on their website, since that is what we are most familiar with. It is fun to try new things though.

Of everything in this month’s box, I had only heard of one company before (Soy Joy), which is part of the fun of subscription boxes. You get to try new things that you might otherwise have never been exposed to.
